Frost Mage Talents
Talents in World of Warcraft define your character's gameplay. They offer active abilities for offense and defense, major cooldowns, or passive enhancements to your stats and spells. Here are the current Frost Mage talents for The War Within Season 1.

Class Talents
Class talents represent a common tree shared across all Mage specializations. These talents provide foundational skills and enhancements essential to the Mage class, offering a range of abilities that lay the groundwork for a Mage's overall capabilities.

Instant - 4 Min Cooldown | Encases you in a block of ice, protecting you from all attacks and damage for 10 sec, but during that time you cannot attack, move, or cast spells. Causes Hypothermia, preventing you from recasting Ice Block for 30 sec. |
Overflowing Energy
|
Passive | Your spell critical strike damage is increased by 10%. When your direct damage spells fail to critically strike a target, your spell critical strike chance is increased by 2%, up to 10% for 8 sec. When your spells critically strike Overflowing Energy is reset. |
Incanter's Flow
|
Passive | Magical energy flows through you while in combat, building up to 10% increased damage and then diminishing down to 2% increased damage, cycling every 10 sec. |
Winter's Protection
|
Passive | The cooldown of Ice Block is reduced by 60 sec. |
Spellsteal
|
Instant - 40 Yd Range | Steals a beneficial magic effect from the target. This effect lasts a maximum of 2 min. |
Tempest Barrier
|
Passive | Gain a shield that absorbs 6% of your maximum health for 15 sec after you Blink. |
Incantation of Swiftness

Passive | Invisibility increases your movement speed by 80% for 6 sec. |

|
Instant - 40 Yd Range - 8 Sec Cooldown | Removes all Curses from a friendly target. |
Arcane Warding
|
Passive | Reduces magic damage taken by 4%. |
Mirror Image
|
Instant - 2 Min Cooldown | Creates 3 copies of you nearby for 40 sec, which cast spells and attack your enemies. While your images are active damage taken is reduced by 20%. Taking direct damage will cause one of your images to dissipate. |
Shifting Power
|
Channeled - 1 Min Cooldown | Draw power from within, dealing 13,471 Arcane damage over 3.6 sec to enemies within 18 yds. While channeling, your Mage ability cooldowns are reduced by 12 sec over 3.6 sec. |
Alter Time
|
Instant - 1 Min Cooldown | Alters the fabric of time, returning you to your current location and health when cast a second time, or after 10 sec. Effect negated by long distance or death. |
Cryo-Freeze
|
Passive | While inside Ice Block, you heal for 50% of your maximum health over the duration. |
Reduplication
|
Passive | Mirror Image's cooldown is reduced by 10 sec whenever a Mirror Image dissipates due to direct damage. |
Reabsorption
|
Passive | You are healed for 3% of your maximum health whenever a Mirror Image dissipates due to direct damage. |
Quick Witted
|
Passive | Successfully interrupting an enemy with Counterspell reduces its cooldown by 4 sec. |
Mass Polymorph
|
1.7 Sec Cast - 1 Min Cooldown | Transforms all enemies within 10 yards into sheep, wandering around incapacitated for 15 sec. While affected, the victims cannot take actions but will regenerate health very quickly. Damage will cancel the effect. Only works on Beasts, Humanoids and Critters. |
Slow

Instant - 35 Yd Range | Reduces the target's movement speed by 50% for 15 sec. |
Master of Time
|
Passive | Reduces the cooldown of Alter Time by 10 sec. Alter Time resets the cooldown of Blink and Shimmer when you return to your original location. |
Diverted Energy
|
Passive | Your Barriers heal you for 40% of the damage absorbed. |
Ring of Frost
|
2 Sec Cast - 30 Yd Range - 45 Sec Cooldown | Summons a Ring of Frost for 10 sec at the target location. Enemies entering the ring are incapacitated for 10 sec. Limit 10 targets. When the incapacitate expires, enemies are slowed by 65% for 4 sec. |
Ice Nova
|
Instant - 40 Yd Range - 25 Sec Cooldown | Causes a whirl of icy wind around the enemy, dealing 7,737 Frost damage to the target and all other enemies within 8 yds, freezing them in place for 2 sec. Damage reduced beyond 8 targets. |
Shimmer
|
Instant - 0.5 Sec Cooldown | Teleports you 20 yds forward, unless something is in the way. Unaffected by the global cooldown and castable while casting. |
Ice Floes
|
Instant | Makes your next Mage spell with a cast time shorter than 10 sec castable while moving. Unaffected by the global cooldown and castable while casting. |
Blast Wave
|
Instant - 30 Sec Cooldown | Causes an explosion around yourself, dealing 2,984 Fire damage to all enemies within 8 yds, knocking them back, and reducing movement speed by 70% for 6 sec. |
Improved Frost Nova
|
Passive | Frost Nova duration is increased by 2 sec. |
Rigid Ice
|
Passive | Frost Nova can withstand 80% more damage before breaking. |

Passive | Increases Critical Strike chance by 2%. |
Dragon's Breath
|
Instant - 45 Sec Cooldown | Enemies in a cone in front of you take 3,761 Fire damage and are disoriented for 4 sec. Damage will cancel the effect. |
Supernova
|
Instant - 40 Yd Range - 45 Sec Cooldown | Pulses arcane energy around the target enemy or ally, dealing 2,249 Arcane damage to all enemies within 8 yds, and knocking them upward. A primary enemy target will take 100% increased damage. |
Tome of Antonidas

Volatile Detonation
|
Passive | Greatly increases the effect of Blast Wave's knockback. Blast Wave's cooldown is reduced by 5 sec |
Energized Barriers
|
Passive | When your barrier receives melee attacks, you have a 10% chance to be granted Clearcasting. Casting your barrier removes all snare effects. |
Frigid Winds
|
Passive | All of your snare effects reduce the target's movement speed by an additional 10%. |
Flow of Time
|
Passive | The cooldowns of Blink and Shimmer are reduced by 4 sec. |
Temporal Velocity
|
Passive | Increases your movement speed by 20% for 3 sec after casting Blink and 40% for 6 sec after returning from Alter Time. |
Ice Ward
|
Passive | Frost Nova now has 2 charges. |
Freezing Cold
|
Passive | Enemies hit by Cone of Cold are frozen in place for 5 sec instead of snared. When your roots expire or are dispelled, your target is snared by 80%, decaying over 3 sec. |
Time Manipulation
|
Passive | Casting Clearcasting Arcane Missiles reduces the cooldown of your loss of control abilities by 2 sec. |
Displacement
|
Instant - 40 Yd Range - 45 Sec Cooldown | Teleports you back to where you last Blinked and heals you for 39,468 health. Only usable within 8 sec of Blinking. |
Accumulative Shielding
|
Passive | Your barrier's cooldown recharges 30% faster while the shield persists. |
Greater Invisibility
|
Instant - 2 Min Cooldown | Makes you invisible and untargetable for 20 sec, removing all threat. Any action taken cancels this effect. You take 60% reduced damage while invisible and for 3 sec after reappearing. |
Barrier Diffusion
|
Passive - 100 Yd Range | Whenever one of your Barriers is removed, reduce its cooldown by 4 sec. |
Ice Cold
|
Passive | Ice Block now reduces all damage taken by 70% for 6 sec but no longer grants Immunity, prevents movement, attacks, or casting spells. Does not incur the Global Cooldown. |
Time Anomaly
|
Passive | At any moment, you have a chance to gain Arcane Surge for 4 sec, Clearcasting, or Time Warp for 6 sec. |
Inspired Intellect
|
Passive | Arcane Intellect grants you an additional 3% Intellect. |
Mass Invisibility
|
Instant - 5 Min Cooldown | You and your allies within 40 yards instantly become invisible for 12 sec. Taking any action will cancel the effect. Does not affect allies in combat. |
Mass Barrier
|
Instant - 3 Min Cooldown | Cast Prismatic Barrier on yourself and 4 allies within 40 yds. |
Specialization Talents
Specialization talents provide Frost Mages with unique abilities and enhancements tailored to their combat style. These talents differentiate Frost Mages from other Mage specializations, maximizing effectiveness in combat.

Deals reduced damage beyond 8 targets. Grants 1 charge of Fingers of Frost when it first damages an enemy. Enemies damaged by the Frozen Orb are slowed by 30% for 3 sec. |
Fingers of Frost
|
Passive | Frostbolt has a 15% chance and Frozen Orb damage has a 10% to grant a charge of Fingers of Frost. Fingers of Frost causes your next Ice Lance to deal damage as if the target were frozen. Maximum 2 charges. |
Flurry
|
Instant - 40 Yd Range | Unleash a flurry of ice, striking the target 3 times for a total of 9,904 Frost damage. Each hit reduces the target's movement speed by 70% for 1 sec and applies Winter's Chill to the target. Winter's Chill causes the target to take damage from your spells as if it were frozen. |
Shatter
|
Passive | Multiplies the critical strike chance of your spells against frozen targets by 1.5, and adds an additional 50% critical strike chance. |
Brain Freeze
|
Passive | Frostbolt has a 25% chance to reset the remaining cooldown on Flurry and cause your next Flurry to deal 50% increased damage. |
Everlasting Frost
|
Passive | Frozen Orb deals an additional 30% damage and its duration is increased by 2 sec. |
Winter's Blessing
|
Passive | Your Haste is increased by 8%. You gain 10% more of the Haste stat from all sources. |
Frostbite
|
Passive | Gives your Chill effects a 10% chance to freeze the target for 4 sec. |
Piercing Cold
|
Passive | Frostbolt and Icicle critical strike damage increased by 20%. |
Perpetual Winter
|
Passive | Flurry now has 2 charges. |
Lonely Winter
|
Passive | Frostbolt, Ice Lance, and Flurry deal 15% increased damage. |
Permafrost Lances
|
Passive | Frozen Orb increases Ice Lance's damage by 15% for 15 sec. |
Bone Chilling
|
Passive | Whenever you attempt to chill a target, you gain Bone Chilling, increasing spell damage you deal by 0.5% for 8 sec, stacking up to 10 times. |
Comet Storm
|
Instant - 40 Yd Range - 30 Sec Cooldown | Calls down a series of 7 icy comets on and around the target, that deals up to 21,422 Frost damage to all enemies within 6 yds of its impacts. |
Frozen Touch
|
Passive - 30 Sec Cooldown | Frostbolt grants you Fingers of Frost 25% more often and Brain Freeze 20% more often. |
Wintertide
|
Passive | Increases Frostbolt damage by 10%. Fingers of Frost empowered Ice Lances deal 20% increased damage to Frozen targets. |
Ice Caller
|
Passive | Each time Blizzard deals damage, the cooldown of Frozen Orb is reduced by 0.5 sec. |
Flash Freeze
|
Passive | Each of your Icicles deals 10% additional damage, and when an Icicle deals damage you have a 5% chance to gain the Fingers of Frost effect. |
Subzero
|
Passive | Your Frost spells deal 10% more damage to targets that are rooted and frozen. |
Deep Shatter
|
Passive | Your Frostbolt deals 25% additional damage to Frozen targets. |
Icy Veins
|
Instant - 2 Min Cooldown | Accelerates your spellcasting for 25 sec, granting 20% haste and preventing damage from delaying your spellcasts. Activating Icy Veins summons a water elemental to your side for its duration. The water elemental's abilities grant you Frigid Empowerment, increasing the Frost damage you deal by 3%, up to 15%. |
Splintering Cold

Passive | Frostbolt and Flurry have a 30% chance to generate 2 Icicles. |
Glacial Assault
|
Passive | Your Comet Storm now increases the damage enemies take from you by 6% for 6 sec and Flurry has a 25% chance each hit to call down an icy comet, crashing into your target and nearby enemies for 1,844 Frost damage. |
Freezing Rain
|
Passive | Frozen Orb makes Blizzard instant cast and increases its damage done by 60% for 12 sec. |
Thermal Void
|
Passive | Icy Veins' duration is increased by 5 sec. Your Ice Lances against frozen targets extend your Icy Veins by an additional 0.5 sec. |
Splitting Ice
|
Passive | Your Ice Lance and Icicles now deal 5% increased damage, and hit a second nearby target for 90% of their damage. Your Glacial Spike also hits a second nearby target for 100% of its damage. |
Chain Reaction
|
Passive | Your Ice Lances against frozen targets increase the damage of your Ice Lances by 2% for 10 sec, stacking up to 5 times. |
Fractured Frost
|
Passive | While Icy Veins is active, your Frostbolts hit up to 2 additional targets and their damage is increased by 15%. |
Freezing Winds
|
Passive | While Frozen Orb is active, you gain Fingers of Frost every 3 sec. |
Slick Ice
|
Passive | While Icy Veins is active, each Frostbolt you cast reduces the cast time of Frostbolt by 4% and increases its damage by 4%, stacking up to 5 times. |
Hailstones
|
Passive | Casting Ice Lance on Frozen targets has a 100% chance to generate an Icicle. |
Ray of Frost
|
Channeled - 40 Yd Range - 1 Min Cooldown | Channel an icy beam at the enemy for 4.5 sec, dealing 14,891 Frost damage every 0.9 sec and slowing movement by 60%. Each time Ray of Frost deals damage, its damage and snare increases by 10%. Generates 2 charges of Fingers of Frost over its duration. |
Death's Chill
|
Passive | While Icy Veins is active, damaging an enemy with Frostbolt increases spell damage by 1%. Stacks up to 15 times. |
Cold Front
|
Passive | Casting 30 Frostbolts or Flurries calls down a Frozen Orb toward your target. Hitting an enemy player counts as double. |
Coldest Snap
|
Passive | Cone of Cold's cooldown is increased to 45 sec and if Cone of Cold hits 3 or more enemies it resets the cooldown of Frozen Orb and Comet Storm. In addition, Cone of Cold applies Winter's Chill to all enemies hit. Cone of Cold's cooldown can no longer be reduced by your cooldown reduction effects. |
Glacial Spike

2.8 Sec Cast - 40 Yd Range | Conjures a massive spike of ice, and merges your current Icicles into it. It impales your target, dealing 36,636 damage plus all of the damage stored in your Icicles, and freezes the target in place for 4 sec. Damage may interrupt the freeze effect. Requires 5 Icicles to cast. assive: Ice Lance no longer launches Icicles. |
Cryopathy

Passive | Each time you consume Fingers of Frost the damage of your next Ray of Frost is increased by 5%, stacking up to 50%. Icy Veins grants 10 stacks instantly. |

Unerring Proficiency

Passive | Each time you conjure an Arcane Splinter, increase the damage of your next Supernova by 20%. Stacks up to 30 times. |
Shifting Shards
|
Passive | Shifting Power fires a barrage of 8 Arcane Splinters at random enemies within 40 yds over its duration. |
Signature Spell
|
Passive | When your Magi's Spark explodes, you conjure 6 Arcane Splinters. |
Force of Will
|
Passive | Gain 2% increased critical strike chance. Gain 5% increased critical strike damage. |
Spellfrost Teachings
|
Passive | Direct damage from Arcane Splinters has a small chance to launch an Arcane Orb at 50% effectiveness and increase all damage dealt by Arcane Orb by 10% for 10 sec. |
Splinterstorm
|
Passive | Whenever you have 8 or more active Embedded Arcane Splinters, you automatically cast a Splinterstorm at your target. plinterstorm: Shatter all Embedded Arcane Splinters, dealing their remaining periodic damage instantly. Conjure an Arcane Splinter for each Splinter shattered, then unleash them all in a devastating barrage, dealing 1,890 Arcane damage to your target for each Splinter in the Splinterstorm. Splinterstorm has a 5% chance to grant Clearcasting. |

Frostfire Empowerment

PvP Talents
PvP talents are tailored for player-versus-player combat scenarios.
